Lake Powell is a fishery defined by change.
Since the reservoir first filled, shifting water levels, changing habitat, and evolving fish populations have continually reshaped one of the West's most unique sport fisheries.
Join Rocky Mountain Anglers on October 13th for a special presentation from Daniel Keller, Lake Powell Project Leader for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
Daniel will take us back through the history of the Lake Powell fishery, highlight major changes in key sport fish populations, and connect those long-term trends to what anglers are seeing on the lake today.
He will also explore the challenges created by unprecedented low-water conditions, including boater access and fisheries management, and discuss the new opportunities and management approaches helping shape the future of fishing at Lake Powell.
Daniel Keller began his career with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in 2007 as the Southeast Region Aquatic Invasive Species Biologist. He later served as a Native Aquatics Biologist, where he designed and implemented fish habitat improvement projects and conducted research on fish habitat in the San Rafael River.
Since 2022, Daniel has served as the Lake Powell Project Leader, coordinating fisheries monitoring and research at Lake Powell while working closely with the National Park Service and Arizona Game and Fish Department.
His experience provides RMA members with a unique opportunity to hear directly from the DWR biologist responsible for leading Lake Powell's fisheries program.
