The latest reports from RMA members on the water.
September 5, 2026
Fishing was slow overall on Flaming Gorge, with anglers working hard for bites throughout the day.
20 Kokanee
2 Rainbow Trout
1 Lake Trout (Mackinaw) – 40 inches, 26 lbs
The largest Kokanee being caught were relatively small.
Most of the fish were caught using some unconventional presentations, including:
Small silver spoons
Silver & red spoons
Silver & blue spoons
The standout catch of the day was a 40-inch, 26-pound Lake Trout, caught at approximately 90 feet using pop gear.
The fishing was slow, but anglers were still able to put together a respectable mixed bag by experimenting with different presentations. Don't be afraid to move away from the traditional Kokanee setup when the bite gets tough.
